South Mountain Preserve

“Ok hike.... nothing spectacular. Trails and rocks . Lots of construction and traffic noise but to be fair it'snot a rural area ... the trails at parts weren't marked well ( depending what trail you chose) Be aware that many properties border the conservation area and it's somewhat difficult to spot what's private and what's not. No restrooms”

“Solid trails, fairly well marked (except at the north edge with the red switchback), quite wooded the entire way except for at the power lines which is the only decent viewpoint, some solid bouldering at the one spot which maybe would came back for with actual gear if warmer”

“The trails are well-marked. There are definitely some rocky patches on the trails, so if you're not sure-footed, just take care. There are some beautiful rock formations, and the wildlife and scenery make this an excellent spot to get away from the city life easily. The folks you'll meet along the trails are kind and helpful, if you actually see anyone. There is easy parking, and trails maps distributed well. There's lots to see and experience, however I will reiterate that the terrain is tricky at times. Absolutely worth a visit!”

“Beautiful place. I was on a road trip and stopped to hike the Alpine Street Trail. Some slightly challenging terrain- make sure to wear sturdy shoes- beautiful views, abundant birds, just a gorgeous well preserved wild space.”

“This is one of my favorite parks in the area so far , so many things to see . Boulders everywhere . Very good clear quartz and other crystals to dig up . Alot of woodpeckers in the area and chipmunks. Also seen a couple snakes and friendly people . Will definitely be back to check out the other trails”
