How We Rank
Every ranking on this site follows the same rules. Here they are, in full.
Verified data, not vibes
Each of the 403 businesses across our 33 categories is verified against live Google data — rating, review count, address, hours, and operating status. We re-audit categories on a rolling basis and remove listings that close, relocate out of the Valley, or no longer meet our standards. If a business shows a rating on this site, that is its real, current Google rating at our last audit — never a number we made up.
Review-weighted scoring
Rankings order businesses by a review-weighted score, not raw star rating. A 5.0 from a handful of reviews does not outrank a 4.8 earned across a thousand — volume is evidence. The formula blends each business's rating with the confidence its review count supports, so established consistency and genuine excellence both matter.
Local and independent first
We list businesses in and around Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. National chains are generally excluded when independent local options serve the same need — a directory of places you could find in any city isn't useful. Multi-location local brands are capped so no single operator dominates a category.
No pay-to-play
Rankings cannot be bought. Advertising (see Advertise With Us) never affects position, inclusion, or editorial copy. The one standing editorial exception we disclose: our founder's pick for insurance holds its position by editorial decision.
Real editorial, honestly sourced
Descriptions and "why we love it" notes are written from verified data, the business's own published information, and local knowledge. When guides cite ratings, they cite our audited directory data and say so. Found something out of date? Businesses change fast — tell us via the contact form and we'll re-verify it.
