“Lock Ridge Park is such a hidden gem. The views are peaceful and wide open, perfect for taking a break or snapping some photos. The old stone buildings and ruins give off a strong nostalgic vibe—like stepping back in time for a moment. It’s quiet, scenic, and has a really calming energy. Definitely a place you can slow down and just enjoy the surroundings. I’ll 100% be coming back.”

The well-known historic stone ruins, arches, and open grassy areas create a variety of backdrops that give the impression that your senior portrait session took place in multiple locations. It has a look that feels completely different from a traditional park setting! For high school seniors looking for something unique with a natural vibe, Lockridge has everything you could want, all while being easily accessible from all over the valley. In late summer and early fall, the golden hour light is absolutely stunning. When it comes through the trees or creates light and shade on the stonework, it provides some beautiful backdrops. There’s enough open space to mix in softer, natural looks to balance out the architectural vibe. The rolling railroad platform is a really popular prop with a great background right behind it. Parking is extremely convenient... there are two lots! You also have access to a bathroom, which can be great for outfit changes. The layout makes it easy to move between different spots during a session. Overall, it’s a really versatile space for senior portrait sessions! For families in the Lehigh Valley searching for a senior portrait location that feels iconic, artistic, and unforgettable, Lock Ridge Park is a solid choice.”

“Came here midday for a walk around and it was fascinating. We were leaving and I noticed they had a little tiny bricked area that said open and that was probably a tourist area or a museum since the large building that looks like it used to have been the museum is now seemingly abandoned and defunct. I wish that was a little more clearly labeled because I wanted to know the history of this place better than a handful of worn down placards could tell me”

“Great safe place to bring your kids for a walk and some trout fishing. There is a big open field where the kids can run around, there is a paved trail, and the ruins from the old furnace buildings are pretty cool. In April the bluebell flowers, and in the fall is gorgeous as well.”

“I visited the Lock Ridge Furnace Museum for the first time on Wednesday June 12, 2019 after discovering it that morning on Google Maps. Thank you Google Maps! I had never even heard of it before that day. There must be many more gems in the Lehigh Valley that I am not aware of. Well anyway, the park did not disappoint. The museum itself was closed as well as the public restroom building. I think they are open on the weekends. I’ll have to make a point to return during business house. Bring your camera because there’s lot to see. It’s a mini Stonehenge right in the middle of Alburtis Pennsylvania. The remains of this old foundry make for interesting photographic subjects. Note the unique designs on the main building. The grounds are clean and well kept. There was a maintenance crew working on pipes while I was there. The paths are paved which is nice so you don’t have to track mud back into your car. I don’t have a dog but there was a person walking theirs and he did a clean up after his dog. I saw a small garden, not colorful, but very nice. Parking is free in their small lot and it is handicap-accessible. The sound from the waterfalls along the pathway was quite peaceful. This visit to the Lock Ridge park was very enjoyable and I would visit again when in the area.”
